This capstone course is designed for senior students in the Biological Sciences Department of Clemson University. The goal of the class is to engage students in the analysis and discussion of a wide array of scientific publications centered on selected plants that changed humanity. In addition to the scientific perspective of this class, my students are expected to integrate other fields of knowledge (e.g., history, economy, politics, environment, technology) to discover the many facets by which plants influence our society.
These are some reactions to the class

We have awesome invited speakers. In 2023, Dr. Laura Leal talked about Rubber and extractivism. These were our 2026 invited speakers.
